The dream of #darkskies2010 is to reclaim the stars, to see again the beauty of dark skies. Our ambition is to enjoy the stars for their own sake and to be inspired. The breathtaking wonder of dark skies inspires our art and our words. The beauty of starlit skies fuels our enthusiasm for the science of astronomy and physics. The infinity of space fires our dreams of space exploration. There are no borders between art, science and technology when we are inspired by dark skies. #darkskies2010 is dark skies without borders. During #darkskies2010, we are asking you to tell everyone what you see from your door or window. Do you have dark skies or light pollution you experience using Twitter. We’ll be streaming & graphing results live. We’ll post your art and photographs, your poems, your stories and memories. You tell us, we’ll do our best to get it online.
Dark skies are our part of the world’s cultural heritage. Be inspired. Tell us about your inspiration. Light pollution is destroying our cultural history and obscuring our scientific future. It is time to say NO to light pollution and YES to inspiration. It is time to say YES to dark skies.
| Our theme tune for #darkskies2010 is "Lights Out for Darker Skies" by British Sea Power (lyrics) |
